SELENA GOMEZ GLAMS UP 90S STYLE

      30 MINUTES AGO IN STYLE

       WORDS BY FLANNERY PATTERINO

Selena Gomez surprised everyone in a Giorgio Armani Tuxedo at the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles on October 14th, 2022. She caused quite a stir by taking pictures with Hailey Bieber but she also turned heads with her 90s throwback look. With the help of her stylist Kate Young, Gomez is giving power suit realness! Gomez seems to pay tribute to Julia Roberts, a classic 90s icon who was known for rocking fabulous suits during that era. Gomez attended this star-studded gala where Roberts was receiving the Icon award for her film career.

Besides the Armani Crepe Tuxedo, Gomez paired the suit with a Wolford Jamaika Bodysuit and Jimmy Choo Sandals. To accessorize, Gomez wore the Panthere Cartier earrings along with a Panthere ring that cost $219,000. Shiver me timbers!

Gomez finished off the look with some shimmering gold eyeshadow, light pink lip, and a white pedicure. For the hair, Gomez wore it slick back with a middle part to give a wet and wild look. The whole fit put Gomez on the gala best dressed list for sure.

The Only Murders in the Building star has had busy year with her makeup line, Rare Beauty taking off better than ever. Rare Beauty has a mental health initiative to raises awareness and provide education for mental health issues.

Stay tuned for more on this Icon-in-the-making as another red carpet is in Gomez’s near future. Her documentary with Apple TV called Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me which reveals her six year mental health journey premieres November 4th.

Heron Preston recently debuted his Spring Menswear 2023 collection in New York City on October 17th, 2022 and it was a growing moment. While Heron Preston is a global brand, the spring collection boasted his roots in New York City while staying relatable for real people. What do real people want? Clothing that fits with their everyday lifestyle and doesn’t destroy the earth. Heron Preston delivers this by understanding the New York fashion protocol- it’s still cold outside! People like to wear big puffer jackets with baggy pants.

Heron Preston got his inspiration from Orchard Street which reminds him of his college days at Parsons in the early 2000s. He arrived from California needing outfits for the cold and his friends sent him to Orchard Street to find those pieces of clothing. This area in lower Manhattan is full of one of a kind stores packed with all-weather jackets, Italian tailored clothing, designer sweaters, track suits, and going to the club outfits.

Preston’s Spring 2023 collection includes many big puffer jackets including the one above. This sleek jacket adds flair by having the Heron Preston nylon security logo. Preston usually goes for darker colors along with his signature Orange. In this collection he has a couple of pastel looks like these light pink pants that match the white hooded jacket. The pink carpenter pants have the classic and subtle white stitching. Preston also debuts his new Peace Keeper boots which is an interesting name knowing  he included military boots in his previous collections.

This look above shows another one of Preston’s Nylon bomber jackets with an American Security logo which features a nice nod to our eagle. This inside out denim pant shows an icy blue striped line which is perfect for work and the club. The outfit shapeshifts with your life!

Since it is a spring collection, Preston has several shorts like these Bermuda shorts on the left. The dyed smoky brown faded shorts make this a stand-out piece.

Preston also shows off the Heron Law Flamed Hoodie which is a fun take on the Ivy Collegiate hoodie. Preston also designed the first sandal with laces calling it the Block Stepper Sandal.

All of the Nylon jackets and cotton hoodies use at least 50% recycled materials. All of the denim in his collection uses a new fiber called coreva which is plant-based yarn from natural rubber and completely plastic free. This means all of the denim is compostable. As Preston remarks in Vogue “I always said the face of fashion is all of us.”  This collection answers that goal. These pieces in this collection are versatile enough for everyday life and going out in the city. It’s nice to know this fashion brand thinks about sustainability. Heron Preston will help you feel brand new his looks will inspire you, let’s hear it for New York!
